Liverpool and Portugal striker Diogo Jota has passed away at 28 after a devastating car crash in Spain.

The football world has been rocked by the heartbreaking loss of the talented attacker, who lost his life in a serious accident on Spanish soil.

The collision happened along the A-52 expressway, around kilometre marker 65, close to the town of Palacios de Sanabria in Zamora province.

Born in 1996, Jota played a crucial role for both Liverpool Football Club and the Portugal national team.

His unexpected death has left fans, teammates, and the entire sports community in deep mourning.

Spanish outlet MARCA broke the news on Thursday, confirming that Jota died on the spot as a result of the crash.

“Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota dies in a traffic accident in the province of Zamora,” the outlet wrote in a brief statement, mourning the loss of the talented player.

Celebrated for his sharp instincts, relentless drive, and ability to adapt on the field, Jota earned admiration across Europe and beyond.

His dedication and energy made him a fan favorite and a respected figure among peers.

As of the time of this publication, authorities have yet to release more details about the circumstances of the crash or any plans for memorial services.
