In a bold move to win back subscribers and offer more value, MultiChoice Nigeria has slashed the price of its DStv decoder from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, John Ugbe, who described the offer as a reward for loyal customers and a step toward making quality entertainment more accessible.
“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day,” Ugbe said. “The ‘We Got You’ campaign is about showing that DStv has something for everyone—not just football fans.”
He noted that the platform is shifting focus to encourage more content discovery, with a wider range of genres including movies, drama, kids’ shows, and news.
“This means more channels, more shows, and more reasons to tune in every day,” the company added in the statement.
That’s not all—MultiChoice is also offering a free subscription upgrade to customers who renew their current DStv plan in full between June 16 and July 31, 2025. Once payment is made, subscribers will automatically get bumped up to the next package tier at no extra cost.
The campaign comes as MultiChoice continues to feel the heat from rising economic pressures and subscriber loss. Between March 2023 and March 2025, the company reportedly lost over 1.4 million subscribers.
This latest offering appears to be a response to that dip, as well as to public backlash following three price increaseswithin a 12-month period—first in April 2023, followed by hikes in November 2023, and April 2024, which took effect on May 1.
Still, the company says it’s focused on easing the burden for Nigerian households while staying committed to quality content.
