Unclaimed, the latest psychological thriller from acclaimed director Biodun Stephen, has officially debuted in cinemas nationwide, following an exclusive premiere at Alliance Française in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The gripping film stars Kunle Remi, Timini Egbuson, Elma Mbadiwe, Teniola Aladese, and Omowunmi Dada, and delves into themes of trauma, memory, and identity. Set against a backdrop of emotional loss, Unclaimed unravels the psychological complexities of its characters as they grapple with fractured relationships and long-buried truths.
Produced by Kayode Kasum under the FilmTrybe banner, the project marks a bold step toward expanding genre storytelling in Nollywood. “This is a deeply emotional journey into family, identity, and the unspoken truths that shape us,” said Kasum. “We’re excited to share a story that is both grounded and provocative.”
The film is the first full-length feature from Hook Entertainment and is distributed by FilmOne Entertainment in collaboration with FilmTrybe.
Ladun Awobokun, Chief Content Officer at FilmOne, emphasized the company’s commitment to championing daring and distinctive Nigerian content. “‘Unclaimed’ reflects our vision of curating genre-rich narratives that resonate with local audiences while also appealing to a global market,” she said.
The premiere drew an impressive crowd, including filmmakers, actors, media partners, and other key players in the Nigerian creative industry.
Unclaimed is positioned as part of a broader strategy to elevate indigenous storytelling in cinemas and further establish Nigeria’s voice in global film conversations.
