Nigerian music icon Davido has pulled out of his upcoming concert at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, originally slated for July 3, citing critical issues with the event’s planning and execution.
In a statement shared via his Instagram story on Saturday, the Afrobeats star explained that despite impressive ticket sales and strong fan anticipation, he could no longer proceed due to persistent problems with the event promoters, The Necto Future Group, organisers of @iconicpresents.
“Over the past few weeks, I’ve extended my full support and professionalism… with the sincere intention of delivering a performance that meets the high standards my fans deserve,” Davido stated. “However, there have been major misalignments regarding the event’s execution particularly with elements crucial to the integrity and quality of my performance.”
Calling the decision “difficult but necessary,” Davido added, “This is not about turnout or support. It’s a matter of principle and respect for my craft, my fans, and the culture I represent.”
While the concert will still go ahead without him, Davido reassured fans that his remaining summer tour dates across Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the U.S. will continue as planned.
“London, I’ll see you soon, I promise. 5ive is still alive! Africa must be respected,” he concluded.
