FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc has appointed Mr. Yinka Sanni as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, succeeding Mr. Moyo Ajekigbe, OFR, who served in the role from 2010 to 2025.
In a statement shared Online on Wednesday, the company’s Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Ore Famurewa, applauded Ajekigbe for his outstanding leadership and lasting contributions to the company’s growth.
Famurewa noted that under Ajekigbe’s guidance, the company navigated key phases of expansion and transformation, including the launch of its dairy development programme.
During Ajekigbe’s tenure, the company adopted forward-thinking strategies that significantly strengthened its market position and competitive edge. His leadership ushered in a period of innovation and progress that laid a solid foundation for future growth. As he steps down, the company is poised for continued success under new leadership.
According to Famurewa, the current chairman, the appointment of Mr. Sanni as the incoming chairman marks the beginning of a new chapter. Sanni brings with him over 35 years of extensive experience in the financial services industry, which spans across retail and wholesale banking as well as asset management. Famurewa expressed confidence in Sanni’s capabilities, highlighting that his broad expertise and strategic insight will play a vital role in steering FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC toward sustained development.
Famurewa emphasized that Sanni’s appointment aligns with the company’s long-term vision of innovation and growth. His leadership is expected to build on the firm foundation laid by his predecessor while also introducing fresh perspectives that will further strengthen the company’s operations and market presence. He added that Sanni has held several key leadership positions throughout his career, most notably serving as Group Executive at Standard Bank Group. Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive Officer for the Africa Region at Standard Bank Group, as well as the CEO of Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC.
