Nigerian socialite and crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, has revealed that he recently fell victim to an online romance scam, losing a total of $990 to a fraudster.
On Sunday, Bobrisky took to Instagram to express his shock and disappointment, admitting that he never expected to be scammed. According to Bobrisky, the scammer had been in contact with him for several months, initially claiming to live in the U.S. before allegedly relocating to Canada. Throughout their interactions, the scammer maintained frequent communication, pretending to be genuinely interested in Bobrisky’s life.
“I never imagined I would be deceived like this. This person started messaging me, and we’ve been talking for almost a few months now. He called me almost every day, saying he lived in the U.S. but had moved to Canada,” Bobrisky shared.
The situation took a turn when a potential client from the U.S. reached out to Bobrisky about an advertisement, stating she wanted to make a payment via CashApp. Bobrisky asked the supposed lover for help in receiving the payment, and the scammer agreed. However, once the payment was made, the scammer immediately blocked him.
“After a few weeks, someone from the U.S. reached out about an ad. She asked for a CashApp to make her deposit, so I turned to this person I had been talking to. He said he would give me his account, but as soon as he received the money, he blocked me,” Bobrisky explained.
To warn others, Bobrisky shared screenshots of their conversations and a photo of the alleged scammer on his page, advising fans to stay vigilant and avoid falling for similar scams.
