Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has finally addressed the missing person’s report filed by his mother, which caught the attention of security agencies. A few weeks ago, 2Baba’s mother sent a letter to the Department of State Services (DSS), expressing concern about her son’s whereabouts, claiming that the family had no idea where he was.
Although 2Baba has been seen in public multiple times since the report was made, he has now spoken out about it. The singer addressed the controversy during a recent performance at a comedy show. In his usual sarcastic style, 2Baba joked about the situation, saying the show was meant to raise money for his “kidnappers” to release him.
He said, “Allegedly, I’ve been missing. Allegedly, I’ve been kidnapped. So, as we come to this Acapella show, this show is to generate money for the kidnappers to release me.”
This statement comes weeks after his new partner, Natasha Osawaru, also responded to rumors that she was holding him against his will. She clarified that 2Baba, being an adult, had chosen to be with her, and also addressed claims about a controversial bead he often wears, insisting it was not diabolical.
Despite the ongoing public scrutiny, 2Baba and Natasha have continued to make appearances together. Recently, comedian Justice Nuagbe, aka Ushbebe, called for national prayers for 2Baba due to the criticism surrounding his relationship with Natasha. In a video, Ushbebe questioned the nature of their relationship, suggesting that something deeper might be going on. He also expressed discomfort with how 2Baba seemed to follow Natasha around like a “schoolboy.”
Ushbebe, while urging 2Baba to “free himself” from Natasha’s influence, said, “I like to mind my business, but on this one, I have to speak up. What’s all this nonsense? You’re holding a legend’s hand and walking around like someone you want to drop off at school. Let’s just call for prayers for the legend! Legends should be legends. 2Baba, free yourself. Emancipate yourself! I’ve been quiet before, but this one is hard for me.”
