The long-awaited Commissioner’s Cup is set to culminate this Sunday at Alade Stadium, Ipaja, Lagos, after a remarkable comeback following a 23-year break. Organisers have confirmed that all is in place for the thrilling finale.

In what promises to be a high-octane showdown, Dr Watts FC will go head-to-head with Trade Safe FC for the title. Meanwhile, De Gunner FA and De Gratia FC will contest for the third-place position. Fans will also be treated to a novelty encounter between SGH Amazon and Flourish Queens before the grand finale kicks off.

The tournament is proudly backed by Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, the Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment. Several prominent personalities are expected to grace the event, including former Lagos State Commissioners Lateef Ibirogba (Information and Strategy) and Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf (Youth and Social Development). Also in attendance will be Lagos government officials, Alimosho LGA 01 chairman Lukmon Orelope, and Kehinde Joseph, representing Alimosho LGA 02.

Renowned for its display of exceptional grassroots football talent, the tournament will reward top-performing teams with monetary prizes: N500,000 for the champions, N250,000 for the runners-up, and N150,000 for the team finishing third. Additionally, standout players will be honoured with trophies, medals, and individual accolades such as best player, top scorer, and best goalkeeper.

Tajudeen Olatigbe, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, expressed confidence that the grand finale will surpass all expectations, delivering one of the most exciting grassroots football spectacles fans have ever witnessed.
