Fire Outbreak in Anambra: Two-Storey Building Affected

A fire outbreak occurred at Ifejika Street, by Sokoto Road, Onitsha, Anambra State, gutting a two-storey building. The Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call at 6:20 am and immediately deployed firefighters to the scene.

Furthermore, the fire, which began in one building, escalated to a nearby building, with the cause still unknown.Residents, passersby, and firefighters made rescue efforts to salvage properties and goods from the building.

Chukwudi Chiketa, head of the Media and Publicity Unit of the Anambra State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and advised the public to remain calm as the situation was under control.“Anambra State Fire Service is currently on intervention at the scene of the fire outbreak at Ifejika Street, by Sokoto Road, Onitsha.

“The distress call came at 0620am today, and our firefighters deployed immediately.

“The public is advised to remain calm as the situation is under control,” he said

This incident is the latest in a series of fire outbreaks in Anambra State. Recently, a fire gutted multimillion-naira shops in Onitsha market, and another fire outbreak occurred in a residential building in Awka South Local Government Area.

The Anambra State Government has been urged to take proactive measures to prevent future fire outbreaks and protect lives and properties.
