On March 26, 2025,Lilian Afegbai also known as  Lili took to Instagram to share her surprise and disbelief after receiving a wedding invitation from a friend. While initially excited to congratulate her friend, she was stunned when she saw the price of the wedding fabric.

“Are you guys selling aso ebi in dollars now in Lagos? Is this what’s happening? You’re selling your own wedding aso ebi in dollars now? You people are doing too much!” Lili exclaimed.

She continued, recalling her reaction, “I was just minding my business when a friend sent me an invitation to her wedding. I was happy and congratulated her. I checked the date to make sure it didn’t clash with my schedule, and that’s when I saw the price—1200. At first, I thought it was in Naira and thought, ‘Is she giving out giveaways or something?'”

She went on to describe her shock when she realized the price was in dollars. “I decided to click the link and saw the dollar sign after the 1200. I was shocked! I had to convert it—1200 times 1600. How much is that? For your own wedding? For an ‘I do’? Is it my ‘I do’?” she said, expressing her disbelief.

Lili then urged people to take a step back and not go overboard with extravagant wedding expenses, adding, “It’s too much. Everybody should chill. There’s life after the wedding, you know.”
