The winner of this year’s expanded Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States, stands a chance to earn up to $125 million in prize money.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino disclosed this in an official statement on Wednesday. The tournament, scheduled from June 14 to July 13, has a total prize pool of $1 billion.
FIFA has now outlined how the funds will be distributed among the 32 competing teams.
Each club will receive a portion of the $525 million allocated for participation, while an additional $475 million will be awarded based on performance throughout the competition. The champion, after competing in seven matches, could secure a grand total of $125 million, inclusive of extra bonuses.
European clubs are set to claim the highest portion of the prize fund.
Each team from Europe will receive between $12.81 million and $38.19 million, depending on both sporting achievements and commercial factors. Meanwhile, South American clubs will be granted $15.21 million for their participation. Clubs from North and Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia will each be awarded $9.55 million, whereas Auckland City, Oceania’s sole representative, will receive $3.58 million for joining the competition.
Infantino highlighted that the prize structure represents the most significant financial reward ever allocated to a tournament featuring both group and knockout stages.
Additionally, he revealed that a groundbreaking solidarity initiative will be introduced, channeling an extra $250 million to global football development.
Infantino further emphasized that all revenue generated from the event would be reinvested into supporting club football.
