The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze, from a suspected ritualist at a hotel in the Wuse area of Abuja.
According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, officers responded to a distress call from hotel staff and found Eze unconscious, tied to a chair with her mouth sealed. She was immediately rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where she regained consciousness.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Eze had met the suspect, who identified himself as Michael Prince, on social media. Claiming to be an oil company worker from Delta State, he invited her to Abuja, where they checked into the hotel on January 30. The following day, he allegedly attacked her with a dagger, restrained her, and fled with her two mobile phones.
Before leaving, Eze reportedly overheard the suspect telling his accomplices that he would return to “finish the job.”
The FCT Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspect and urged residents, especially young women, to be cautious when meeting strangers. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, reassured the public of the command’s commitment to security and encouraged anyone with useful information to contact the police.
