Reality FA, Oki United, and B. United FA all celebrated victories on the first weekend of the 2025 Divtech Sports football tournament, which took place at the Oki Primary School stadium in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.
In the Group A opener on Saturday, Reality FA narrowly defeated Darling FC 1-0, while Oki United triumphed over FC Synergia with the same scoreline.
On Sunday, Group B saw B. United FA earn a comfortable 2-0 victory over SGH Sports Academy, while Pladis FC and King FC played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Divtech Sports Director, Oladapo Olalekan, shared his satisfaction with how the tournament was organised this year.
“Compared to previous years, this tournament is a major improvement. We’ve introduced an opening ceremony to set the tone for the matches,” Olalekan remarked.
“While the ultimate goal is to reward the winners with prizes, the tournament’s core mission is to identify hidden talents at the grassroots level, who may one day become football heroes. We are also working on bringing in scouts to spot these players.”
Running until March 22, the tournament boasts increased prize money this year, with N150,000 for the winners and N80,000 for the runners-up, a step up from the N100,000 and N60,000 prizes in previous years.
Adebaja Adekunle, Managing Director of JKB Lagos, a sponsor of the competition, emphasized their commitment to supporting the community.
“JKB Lagos is based in Iyana Ipaja, so this is our community. We aim to bring joy to the youth, as they represent the future of the country,” Adekunle stated.
The organisers have also ensured high-quality officiating for the 16-team tournament.
“We’ve enlisted professional referees to handle the matches. We didn’t just select anyone to officiate,” Olalekan added.
