Gunmen Attack Abuja Community, Abduct Four Residents

Suspected kidnappers invaded the Chikakore area of Kubwa, Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), during the early hours of Monday, January 27, 2025, abducting four residents.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers arrived in large numbers, armed with machetes and sticks, and caused panic among the community members. According to a security official in the area, the four victims were taken from the same household.

Confirming the incident, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, revealed that the assailants disguised themselves as vigilantes to deceive their targets. “On January 27, 2025, at about 1:00 a.m., seven armed men, dressed as vigilantes, tricked the victims into opening their gate. They then abducted the head of the household along with three family members,” Adeh said.

She added that a neighbor who attempted to intervene was attacked and sustained injuries. The injured individual was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for treatment.

The police have launched a search-and-rescue operation to recover the victims and apprehend the perpetrators. “We are committed to ensuring the safe return of the abducted individuals and bringing the suspects to justice. We urge the public to remain calm and vigilant, and to provide any information that could aid the investigation,” Adeh stated.

This incident highlights the rising insecurity in parts of Abuja, with residents calling for heightened surveillance and proactive measures to prevent further attacks. The Chikakore community, in particular, has appealed to authorities to intensify efforts to protect lives and property.
