On Tuesday, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State administered the oath of office to thirteen newly appointed permanent secretaries, urging them to uphold the principles of the civil service and avoid engaging in partisan politics.
During the ceremony at the Government House in Makurdi, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of professionalism and adherence to established codes of conduct.
He stated, “You are expected to conduct yourselves as responsive and responsible officers, dedicated to implementing the administration’s policies and programs in alignment with its seven-point agenda.”
The governor further cautioned against any actions that could undermine the government’s reputation, warning that individuals found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate sanctions.
He added, “Our oversight is not to monitor you but to ensure that you consistently perform your duties correctly.”
This initiative aims to strengthen the state’s civil service and promote effective governance.
