The Lagos State House of Assembly has appointed Mojisola Meranda as its first-ever female Speaker. Her swearing-in followed the removal of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, during a plenary session held on Monday.
Meranda, who serves as the representative for Apapa 1 state constituency, officially assumed her new role by taking the oath of office.
During the ceremony, she pledged, “I solemnly affirm to diligently fulfill my duties as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, committing to honesty, integrity, and adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
