A former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has refuted claims that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing the speculations on his verified X account (formerly known as Twitter), El-Rufai dismissed the reports as baseless and misleading. He urged the public to disregard the allegations, labeling them as “complete fabrications.”
The former governor also revealed that he has directed his legal team to take action against those responsible for spreading the false information. “Kindly ignore these blatant falsehoods about my political alignment. My lawyers have been instructed to pursue the primary perpetrators of this misinformation,” El-Rufai stated in his post on Sunday.
Additionally, a close associate of El-Rufai described the rumors as the handiwork of individuals with malicious intent. The aide emphasized that as a key figure within the APC, El-Rufai would not switch to the PDP without making an official announcement.
