The Super Eagles have officially booked their place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, achieving this milestone with two qualifying games still to play. With a solid 10 points secured, Nigeria is guaranteed a top-two finish in Group D after Libya’s narrow 1-0 win over Rwanda in Kigali.
Next on the Super Eagles’ schedule is a clash against Benin Republic’s Cheetahs in Abidjan tonight. Following this match, they will return to face Rwanda at home on Monday to close out their qualifiers. Rwanda, holding five points, and Libya, with four, are now mathematically unable to overtake Nigeria with only one match remaining for each.
The three-time AFCON champions were runners-up in the previous tournament hosted in Côte d’Ivoire.
The upcoming 35th Africa Cup of Nations is set to be held in Morocco, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
