A demolition exercise commenced on November 4, 2024, at Keke Garage, located in Wuye, Abuja. It is currently ongoing to ensure that those who own businesses there vacate the premises.
This action comes after several warnings were issued to those who own shops and other businesses in the area. They were all informed to leave the area before the demolition.
According to a source who revealed that they were all informed to vacate the area but were not given an exact date for the demolition. The source who decided to remain anonymous explained that they were all caught unaware as they saw security agencies surround the area and the demolition began.
Business owners, including food vendors and mechanics, were seen trying to pack their belongings as their shops were destroyed. Amidst the chaos, some attempted to secure their properties, while others took advantage of the situation by stealing from vulnerable owners.
The ongoing demolition at Keke Garage, Wuye, Abuja, aims to clear the area for a road project leading to the train station, as the site is owned by the government.
