The stage is set for the final leg of the 2024 Beach Volleyball Star Tour, scheduled to unfold in Bauchi City, Bauchi State.
DCP Stephen Hasso (RTD), Chair of the Local Organizing Committee, announced that 24 teams will vie for the ultimate prize from November 11 to 18 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium. Hasso expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State for green-lighting this significant event.
He remarked that Bauchi was privileged to host the tour, a development that came about after Engineer Musa Nimrod’s appointment as President of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission.
“This marks a new chapter for beach volleyball in Nigeria, as Bauchi State will proudly host the final stage of the 2024 National Beach Volleyball Star/Open Tour, all thanks to Musa Nimrod’s leadership within the African volleyball landscape,” Hasso noted.
“Bauchi State has consistently showcased its dedication to beach volleyball, bringing forth a highly competitive team in each phase of this tour. Today, the state is home to some of the finest beach volleyball talents across Africa.”
Hasso underscored the event’s significance, explaining, “Teams from the Star and Open tours, totaling 24, are ready to participate in one of West Africa’s premier beach volleyball events. Nigeria stands out as the first Sub-Saharan African nation to organize both the President’s Cup and the Star/Open Tour.”
He encouraged beach volleyball fans from the North Central and North East regions to gather in Bauchi for an exciting showcase of elite competition. Furthermore, he disclosed that the commission aims to enhance the sport’s appeal to private investors and potential stakeholders, hoping to foster more investments in beach volleyball.
