Nottingham Forest and Nigerian international defender Ola Aina, have spoken about his tendency to wear sagging shorts during football matches.
Aina, who is known for his solid performances on the field, is frequently spotted with his shorts sitting lower than normal, a style that has intrigued many fans.
In Nigeria, sagging refers to wearing shorts or trousers below the waistline, often exposing part of the underwear or, in Aina’s case, having the shorts hang loosely around the hips.
Although some might interpret this as a fashion choice, Aina explained that his reasons are more functional.
“I’ve been doing that since I was young. It’s not about fashion; there’s a reason behind it,” Aina shared in an interview with Fanstribe, published on Wednesday.
Pointing to his thighs, he added, “You see the size? And also the backside, it’s quite big, so the shorts ride up, and it becomes really uncomfortable.”
To combat this, Aina opts for larger shorts to enhance comfort.
“That’s why I prefer loose shorts, so I go for a bigger size,” he said, laughing. “Now you guys can leave me alone,” he joked.
