Manchester United have entered the competition to acquire Bayer Leverkusen’s rising star Victor Boniface, setting up a possible transfer showdown with Chelsea, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The 23-year-old Nigerian forward has been on a remarkable run since joining the German club in the summer of 2023, catching the eye of several top European clubs. In his debut season, Boniface netted 21 goals and contributed 10 assists across 34 matches, playing a key role in Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga win, which ended Bayern Munich’s long reign at the top.
His exceptional form has carried into this season, where he has already recorded seven goals and five assists in just eight Bundesliga games. Boniface recently added to his UEFA Champions League tally, scoring a critical goal against AC Milan.
As reported by Fichajes, Manchester United and Chelsea are both prepared to compete for Boniface, with his estimated transfer value ranging between €60 and €80 million.
Even after signing young talents like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, Manchester United is eager to strengthen their attack further. They see Boniface as a potential key asset to enhance their frontline. Meanwhile, Chelsea has been actively searching for a top-tier striker, and Boniface’s profile aligns with their strategy to recruit world-class young talent.
Boniface’s contract with Leverkusen extends until 2028, giving the German club a strong position in any negotiations. The striker, however, seems content to remain focused on his performances under coach Xabi Alonso.
With the January transfer window drawing closer, Boniface’s future will be closely watched, as both Manchester United and Chelsea prepare to pursue one of Europe’s most promising young talents.
