The Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State, Adeniran Akinwale, has urged the youth in the area to avoid participating in the protest scheduled for October 1, warning that it could be taken over by troublemakers.

In an interview with The PUNCH in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Akinwale emphasized that seeking justice through unlawful means is not the right approach. He encouraged young people to choose dialogue and peaceful methods instead.

He stated, “We encourage everyone not to participate in the protest to prevent it from being hijacked by hoodlums, which would benefit no one. We are committed to maintaining peace in Ekiti State.”

Akinwale added that discussions with key stakeholders have been ongoing and will continue, aiming to communicate with youth to prevent any lawlessness.

He noted, “Given the current economic challenges both locally and globally, everyone must make sacrifices and act sensibly to avoid pursuing legality through illegal means. It is unnecessary for anyone to take actions that disrupt peace.”
