Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Preston North End in a dramatic penalty shootout which saw a total of 31 spot kicks taken.

Fulham fell 16-15 on penalties Tuesday night after 1-1 at English Championship club Preston.

Iwobi came on as a 77th minute sub, but was one of the penalty takers, as he stood up to the challenge by netting twice in the shootout, while Bassey was an unused sub for Marco Silva’s side.

In a twist of fate, Super Eagles star Jo Aribo and Southampton pulled into the fourth round after another thrilling penalty shootout, which they won 6-5.

Aribo played the full extent of the game, even scoring his penalty (which was second to the last) as the Saints marched on.
