Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Okobi has announced that she has welcomed her newborn.

The former Eskilstuna United player from Sweden shared the news on Tuesday via social media.

“Congratulations to me. #godbepraised #iamamother #newmom. I am in my new season #NSPPD,” she wrote, accompanied by photos of her baby bump.

Before her announcement, Okobi kept her pregnancy private, occasionally sharing gym videos and casual photos but never mentioning her journey to motherhood.

She married her husband, Okeoghene, on December 9, 2017, in Delta State, continuing her football career for nearly seven years before welcoming their child.

Okobi represented Nigeria in several international tournaments, including the 2010 U-17 Women’s World Cup, 2010 WAFCON, 2012 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and multiple WAFCON tournaments (2014, 2016, 2018, 2022). She also played in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cups.

However, she was left out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad by former coach Randy Waldrum and has not returned to the national team since.
