President Bola Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Tijjaniyya Movement’s members and leaders in Nigeria following the tragic loss of 40 individuals in a vehicle accident on Sunday.

In a message delivered through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu shared his sympathies.

The statement, titled “President Tinubu Grieves Over Death of 40 in Vehicle Accident,” was released on Tuesday.

The Muslim devotees were traveling from Kwandari in Plateau State to Saminaka in Kaduna State for a ceremony celebrating Eid-el-Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

Unfortunately, their bus collided with a truck near Lere, according to one of the event’s organizers. Several others were injured and are currently receiving medical care.

Tinubu, through Onanuga, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, the injured, and the governments of Kaduna and Plateau States. He also offered prayers for the souls of the deceased.

The President further instructed the Federal Road Safety Commission to intensify highway surveillance to help minimize road accidents across the country.
