On Tuesday, prominent elder statesman and business tycoon, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, contributed N1.5 billion to assist flood victims in parts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, which were recently affected by severe flooding.
Dantata announced the donation while leading a delegation from Kano to the Government House in Maiduguri to express solidarity and sympathy for the affected community.
During his visit, he conveyed his deepest sympathies to Governor Babagana Zulum, the government, and the citizens of the state, particularly those who lost loved ones due to the disaster.
Dantata expressed concern about the country’s economic decline and called on political leaders and the elite to seek repentance and embrace a greater sense of responsibility and fear of God.
He also offered prayers for peace and stability in both Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.
In response, Governor Zulum thanked the respected elder statesman for his compassionate gesture, noting that his visit provided hope and comfort during challenging times.
“The people of Borno are truly grateful for this extraordinary act of generosity, especially from a 96-year-old who traveled to visit us. I would like to announce that Baba has donated N1.5 billion to support the flood victims,” Zulum said.
This act of generosity follows a similar donation of N1 billion made by Dantata’s nephew, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, to aid those impacted by the flood.
