The Federal Government has announced that Monday, September 16th, 2024, will be a public holiday in celebration of the Eid-ul-Mawlid which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, released a statement on Friday congratulating Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora on this occasion.
While congratulating the Muslim Ummah, the Minister advise they use the opportunity of the period to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous egalitarian nation.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, emphasized the Minister’s message, urging Nigerians to cultivate the spirit of patience, sacrifice and resilience.
The declaration of a public holiday on Monday serves as a means of acknowledging the importance of Eid-ul-Mawlid’s celebration in Islam and recognizes the country’s religious heritage.
