Hajia Dada, the mother of former Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, has passed away at the age of 102. She died on Monday at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina after a brief illness.

Hajia Dada was a matriarch of the Yar’adua family and was also the mother of late Shehu Musa Yar’adua and Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the current Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army.

The family has announced that burial arrangements for Hajia Dada will be made public at a later date.

Umaru Musa Yar’adua served as President of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in May 2010. Prior to his presidency, he was the Governor of Katsina State from 1999 to 2007.

Hajia Dada’s passing is a significant loss to the Yar’adua family and the nation, and she will be remembered for her influence and legacy as a matriarch of one of Nigeria’s most prominent political families.
