The Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s football squad, have upheld their position at 36th in the latest FIFA global rankings. This ranking confirms their place as the top women’s team in Africa, as revealed on Friday, August 16, 2024.

The team’s recent performance at the Women’s Summer Olympics in Paris was less than stellar. The Falcons were unable to progress beyond the group stage, suffering three consecutive losses: a 1-0 defeat to Brazil, a similar loss to Spain, and a 3-1 setback against Japan, which left them at the bottom of Group C.

Following Nigeria in the African football rankings are South Africa (50th), Morocco (59th), Zambia (62nd), and Ghana (66th).

The top 10 women’s football teams globally, according to the latest FIFA rankings, are:

1. United States of America

2. England

3. Spain

4. Germany

5. Sweden

6. Canada

7. Japan

8. Brazil

9. Korea DPR

10. France
