The Yobe State Government has implemented a curfew in the towns of Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru as of Thursday. The decision comes in response to the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, which have been exploited by criminals to damage and loot both public and private properties in these areas.
This information was shared in a press release issued by Brigadier General Dahiru Abdussallam (retd.), Special Adviser to Governor Mai Buni on security matters, and distributed to PUNCH Online.
The release stated, “A 24-hour curfew has been established for Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru. Residents are urged to adhere strictly to this curfew and remain indoors to restore peace to these areas and the state as a whole.” Abdulsallam further noted, “Security forces have been instructed to enforce this curfew and ensure that it is fully observed.”
