An investigation into the death of a 19-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten to death by his father has been launched by the Lagos State Police.
On Thursday, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.
According to the spokesperson, the Alagbado Police Division was notified of the purported crime on Tuesday.
He stated, “One Olumide gave his son, Adeyemi, a deep cut at his right-hand side with a shovel over an undisclosed offense at about 12.00 p.m. on July 5, at about 2.00 p.m. With moderate correction.”
According to Hundeyin, the impact of the shovel attack caused injuries to the young man, and he was sent to the hospital right away to receive medical attention.
However, when the wound became more serious, he was taken to the General Hospital in Ikeja, where the attending physician confirmed that he had passed away from tetanus. Detectives from the division paid a visit to the scene.
He clarified, “The victim’s father is at large right now, and the case is being looked into.”
