On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja’s Justice James Omotosho overturned Phillip Shuaibu’s impeachment as Edo State’s deputy governor.

Shaibu was ordered to be restored to office by Justice Omotosho during the suit is judgment delivery because the Edo State House of Assembly had not followed the proper procedures when it impeached him.

The appointment of the new Deputy Governor who took Shaibu’s place was also overturned by Justice Omotosho.

The court determined that the charge that served as the foundation for the House of Assembly’s impeachment proceedings was legally untenable and did not amount to egregious misconduct.

He gave the Inspector General of Police the order to give him the security he required so he could return to work and carry out his official duties until the end of his term.
