The Federal Road Safety Corps, FCT Command, has recently apprehended more than 100 traffic offenders during its ongoing “Operation Green Light Enforcement” in Abuja’s city center. FCT Sector Commander, Muta’a Chorrie, revealed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

Chorrie expressed concern about the frequent disregard for traffic signals, particularly among commercial drivers, emphasizing the Corps’ determination to penalize all offenders, regardless of their status, to restore road order.

Regarding the issue of indiscriminate parking by commercial drivers, Chorrie mentioned that the mobility of patrol personnel had been increased to address this issue. He also noted ongoing discussions with Transport Union Leaders across the territory’s six area councils to tackle these challenges. Chorrie highlighted recent enforcement actions, stating, “Over the past week in FCT, we have arrested 100 traffic offenders. Our efforts will persist until road discipline is fully restored.”

Chorrie urged motorists to refrain from overloading vehicles and emphasized the importance of safe driving practices, particularly during emergencies such as heavy rain expected during the rainy season. He advised compliance with speed limits and proper parking etiquette to enhance safety for all road users.
