The Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged a suit by the detained leader of the separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu seeking N1 Billion damages for alleged violation of right.
Kanu had, in the suit, claimed that the Department of State Services DSS and its Director General violated his right to fair hearing by allegedly stopping his lawyers from having private conversations with him where he is being held, in preparation of his defence in his criminal trial.
The judge, James Omotosho held that Kanu failed to provide credible evidence to sustain his claims that his interactions with his lawyers were interfered with.
He added that Kanu also failed to prove that he was not granted uninterrupted access to his lawyers and that DSS officials listened to his conversations with his lawyers, which constituted a breach of his right to fair hearing.
