Salman Garba, the recently appointed Commissioner of the Kano State Police, has refuted the claim that he is a blood relative of the ousted Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, stating that his purpose in Kano is to serve all people, regardless of their race, religion, or color.
At his first press briefing, which took place on Wednesday at the command headquarters in Bompai Kano, the Commissioner pledged.
He claimed that the action was required to fight crime, uphold the rule of law, and guarantee that the state is one of peace and stability.
“The security of life and property is our primary concern, and we will work according to the provisions of the law. We have already developed an action plan that revolves around collaborative policing after carefully studying the trend of the crime pattern,” the CP said.
“I am first and foremost a Nigerian, and I am here to serve Nigerians. The news of me belonging to the same family as Bayero is new to me; this is the first time I am hearing it. For me, I will do my best for Kano,” he stated.
Garba promised to assist and give command men and officers the tools they need to combat the revival of thuggery (Daba) and other criminal activity in specific areas of Kano City.
By “creating a safer and more secure environment where residents can thrive, businesses can flourish, and visitors can feel welcomed to the state,” he gave the public assurance that he would see to it that appropriate security measures were in place.
In addition to acknowledging the difficulties the state has, Garba emphasized the need to take collective responsibility for resolving security issues and promised to collaborate closely with the administration and populace to foster confidence and guarantee a safer Kano State.
He pledged to carry on the legacy of his predecessor, AIG Usaini Gumel and praised him for his accomplishments. Garba called on the people to assist the police in preserving the state’s peace and order.
