During a press conference commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Adamawa State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) formally announced Baban Dada, a notorious drug trafficker, as a wanted individual. Mr. Agboalu Femi Samson, the State Commander, disclosed that a recent raid on one of Dada’s hideouts led to the arrest of his associate, Nura Muhammed, also known as Haske.
The operation, a collaboration between NDLEA’s Numan Area Command and the Nigerian Army, targeted a two-room mud house located in Wuro Mallum village, Ngurore town, Yola-South Local Government Area. Law enforcement seized 32 ash-colored bags containing compressed blocks of suspected cannabis sativa, totaling 1,898 blocks with a weight of 1,861 kilograms, equivalent to 1.9 tons.
Mr. Samson emphasized ongoing efforts to apprehend Baban Dada and bring him to justice, underscoring the command’s dedication to combatting drug abuse and trafficking in Adamawa State. He noted a significant increase in drug seizures, totaling 4,732.128 kilograms between 2023 and 2024, marking a 75% rise from the previous year’s 1,164.750 kilograms.
The commander stressed the importance of public cooperation, urging citizens to provide credible information to enhance security operations and achieve a crime-free environment. This approach, he emphasized, is crucial in the collective effort to eradicate drug-related criminal activities and safeguard communities across the state.
