The Wuye bridge which has been under construction for a few years has finally been opened on Thursday, 16th of May 2024.

Landslide News interviewed some of the construction workers and one of the correspondents spoke to the Senior General Foreman, Mr. Eteng Ofem.

Mr. Eteng Ofem expressed how excited he was about the rounding off of the project. He told Landslide News that the road has been under construction for so many years and they faced challenges that halted the progress of the building.

Mr. Eteng Ofem said that they had to stop the project for some time as a result of inadequate funds. Fortunately, when the newly appointed Minister of FCT for His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s adminstration, Minister Nyesom Wike came on board, he facilitated the continuing of the project.

Another construction worker said that the Minister continued the project about eight months ago and gave them instructions to round off the project in seven months.

This bridge is a connecting point for a lot of roads, thereby making life easier for road users, alleviating traffic congestion and also improving the quality of air in the area. The bridge connects Wuye to Wuse, shortening the travel time of road users. Even before the bridge was officially opened, people were plying the bridge on foot for easier access and also for safety sake so they don’t cross the express in order to get to the other side of the road.

Landslide News tried to talk to the road engineer but all effort to do so proved abortive. The construction workers estimated the time of commissioning to be before the 29th of May, 2024. More update will be released soon.
