The palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has issued a statement disowning a man who claimed to be the monarch’s son in a viral video. According to the monarch’s spokesperson, Moses Olafare, the individual in the video is accused of impersonating the Ooni and the matter has been reported to the authorities for further investigation.
Olafare emphasized that Oba Ogunwusi is a responsible father who acknowledges all his children and would take full responsibility for them. He stated that the person claiming to be the prince is not recognized by the palace or the people of Ile-Ife.
The palace provided a list of the Ooni’s known children and their locations to refute the claims made by the impersonator. It emphasized the seriousness of impersonating a member of the royal family and urged law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter.
Furthermore, the palace called on anyone with information about the impersonator to come forward and assist with the investigation. It also warned the impersonator to cease such deceptive practices and emphasized its commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
