Bullying has always been a matter of concern in secondary and tertiary institutions. Recently it has become very rampant in both secondary schools and universities.
In a video that has caused an uproar on social media, a female undergraduate of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education Science and Technology, Ikere in Ekiti State was seen violently beating a fellow student with a cane.
The incident happened on Sunday, 5th May 2024 according to Ekiti Trends and the video surfaced on X on Monday, 6th May 2024.
In the viral video, the bully was seen in a black top and black trousers canning the victim who was wearing a yellow dress with a female voice heard in the background who is believed to be a fellow schoolmate.
The witness who filmed the entire incident revealed that the incident occurred on the BOUESTI’s campus. The victim was disclosed to be Ajayi Precious Gloria while the bully is a “very popular” Mass Communication student.
The female voice revealed that the two ladies were friends and the perpetrator is popular in the Mass Communication Department of the school. “They are friends, she is quite popular in the Mass Communication Department”, she said.
Canning the victim continuously, the bully was heard saying, “You called me a bastard, you must be mad. I am waiting for who will stop me from not beating you till you bleed”.
The victim was seen pleading but the bully ignored her pleas and continued beating saying, “Let me draw blood from you easily or hardly”.
In the video, other individuals were present during the assault but none intervened to stop the bully. The victim at an instance ran towards some people for help but they all ignored her as the bully chased after her down into an alley.
At the end of the video, the bully continued threatening to beat her till she bleeds as Precious was seen pleading.
Many netizens have showed their annoyance toward the video. Many have called on the school management to expel the “very popular” mass communication student and those who watched the assault and did not stop it.
Another bullying incident also occurred in April which sparked so much outrage on social media. In the video a female student of Lead British International School, Abuja was seen assaulting her fellow female classmate.
