According to Malu Mpasinkatu, renowned for his insights into African football, Manchester United of the English Premier League, is reportedly in talks to acquire Napoli striker Victor Osimhen amidst a heated transfer battle. Rasmus Hojlund, the top scorer for the Devils this season, is yet to score since February 13, prompting United’s quest for a top-tier striker in the upcoming transfer window. Various top talents including Ivan Toney from Brentford, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, and Osimhen have been linked to Erik ten Hag’s team.
Manchester United’s pursuit of Osimhen began last summer, alongside their interest in Harry Kane, both topping Ten Hag’s transfer wishlist. However, neither deal materialized, with Kane joining Bayern Munich and Osimhen staying at Napoli after their Scudetto triumph. Recent reports suggest Osimhen is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, but United is poised to intervene, ready for a bidding war.
Mpasinkatu, speaking on Radio Goal, revealed United’s intentions to compete with Chelsea for Osimhen’s signature. Additionally, he hinted at PSG targeting Marcus Thuram instead of Mbappe and mentioned Jonathan David as a potential replacement for Osimhen. Despite Osimhen’s slightly reduced productivity compared to last season, his track record remains impressive, with 15 goals and four assists in 27 appearances across all competitions for Napoli.
