The Kano State High Court has issued an ex parte order preventing the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, from representing himself as a party member and participating in its activities. The court also instructed Ganduje to refrain from overseeing the affairs of the National Working Committee of the APC. This ruling came after an application was filed by Dr. Ibrahim Sa’ad on behalf of two executive members from Ganduje’s ward, Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area, who were among the nine ward executives that suspended Ganduje.

The court’s decision, granted by Justice Usman Na’abba, directs all parties involved to maintain the status quo as of April 15, 2024, until the substantive suit is heard on April 30, 2024. It specifically prohibits the APC from recognizing Ganduje as a member and prevents him from presiding over any NWC affairs. Furthermore, the State Working Committee of the APC in Kano is barred from interfering with the decision made by Ganduje’s ward executives.

The order also prohibits Ganduje from presenting himself as an APC member or engaging in any activities that suggest his affiliation with the party until the substantive suit is resolved. The suspension of Ganduje stemmed from allegations of corruption leveled against him by the Kano State Government, following a petition submitted by Ja’afaru Adamu, a member of the APC from Ganduje’s polling unit. Despite initial inaction by the ward chairman and secretary, nine executives, led by the legal adviser, acted on the petition, resulting in Ganduje’s suspension.
