Broos Confident in Nigeria’s Comeback in World Cup Qualifiers

South Africa’s head coach, Hugo Broos, has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to bounce back in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers despite their slow start.

The Super Eagles have struggled in the campaign so far, managing only three points from their first four matches. They played out draws against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa before suffering a shocking 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic. This poor run has left Nigeria in a difficult position in their qualification group, raising concerns among fans and analysts.

However, Broos believes that Nigeria has the quality to turn things around. Speaking about the situation, he acknowledged his surprise at their struggles but remained optimistic about their chances. He stated that the Super Eagles have enough talent to recover and compete strongly in the remaining matches.

In response to their struggles, the Nigerian Football Federation recently appointed a new head coach, Eric Chelle, to revive the team’s form. With his tactical expertise, Chelle is expected to bring fresh ideas and a new approach to help Nigeria regain its competitive edge in the qualifiers.

With several matches still left to play, Nigeria will be looking to improve their performance and secure the necessary points to keep their World Cup hopes alive. The next international window in March will be crucial in determining their fate in the qualification race.
