Mob Justice: Two Suspected One-Change Operators Meet Their End

A tragic incident occurred in the Lugbe area of the federal capital territory on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of two suspected “one-chance” operators at the hands of an angry mob.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects had thrown a victim out of their moving vehicle, prompting a chase by the mob, which eventually caught up with them after Dunamis church.

A commercial driver, Ahmed, who witnessed the incident, recounted the events leading up to the mob’s attack. “What happened was that after a victim of one chance was thrown out of a moving vehicle, some people chased the vehicle and caught up with them after Dunamis church. Inside the vehicle, there were three people. One managed to escape, the other died, and the last one was in critical condition after he was beaten; I heard he later died”.

The mob’s actions were reportedly fueled by anger and frustration, as they set the suspects’ vehicle ablaze. The victim, who was thrown out of the vehicle, was taken to the hospital by Good Samaritans for medical care.

The FCT Police Command has been informed of the incident, but as of the time of reporting, the spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, had yet to comment on the matter.

This incident highlights the growing concern about “one-chance” operators in the Federal Capital Territory. These operators, often posing as taxi drivers or ride-hailing services, prey on unsuspecting passengers, robbing or kidnapping them.

In a similar incident last year, a Nigerian Air Force officer, Air Commodore John Ijudigal, foiled a robbery attempt by suspected “one-chance” operators in Abuja. The officer’s quick thinking and bravery led to the apprehension of three suspects and the rescue of two kidnapped victims.

The incident has sparked renewed calls for increased security measures to combat the rise of “one-chance” operators in the city. The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

As the investigation into the incident continues, the FCT Police Command is expected to provide more information on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two suspected “one-chance” operators.
