Iheanacho Willing to Rejoin Sevilla

Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his willingness to rejoin Spanish side Sevilla, even though he recently secured a loan transfer to English Championship club Middlesbrough.

The 28-year-old striker made the switch to Middlesbrough on the final day of the transfer window, following a brief six-month stint with Sevilla after departing Leicester City on a free transfer.

Reflecting on his time in Spain, Iheanacho spoke highly of the experience. “Playing in a different league and adapting to a new culture was a valuable experience. Sevilla is a top club with an incredible atmosphere,” he shared with Middlesbrough’s official media. “I enjoyed my time there, and Seville as a city is fantastic. I’d love to return someday, but for now, my focus is here, and I’m eager to see what we can accomplish.”

Having previously played for Manchester City and played a key role in Leicester City’s Championship-winning campaign last season, Iheanacho is thrilled to be back in England. He is also looking forward to working under Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick.

“I’m delighted to be here and have felt very welcomed by the squad and the staff. The transfer happened quickly, but I’m excited about the opportunity,” he said. “Middlesbrough is a team that plays with style, and the manager has a clear vision. We’ve already discussed how we plan to push forward and fight for Premier League promotion.”

Despite not finding the back of the net in nine appearances for Sevilla, Iheanacho remains determined to contribute to Middlesbrough’s promotion hopes.

“I don’t usually set individual targets, but as a group, the ambition is clear—we want to reach the Premier League. It’s a step-by-step process, and with the quality in this team, we can work together to achieve that goal,” he concluded.
