Governor Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has officially opened the newly revamped Dambatta International Cattle Market, a project funded through a partnership between the state government and the Islamic Development Bank as part of the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project. This market is one of five that have undergone modernization, alongside those in Tsanyawa, Falgore, Doguwa, and Wudil.

The upgrades in these markets include the installation of loading ramps, water systems, office spaces for market operations, security facilities, veterinary service centers, public amenities, and lighting to ensure safe transactions after dusk. This project is aimed at enhancing the livestock trade by improving transportation logistics, which will help lower animal mortality rates and create a more sanitary trading environment.

Governor Yusuf highlighted the critical role of livestock trading in Kano’s economy, noting that it is a key source of income for millions, helping to reduce poverty and drive agricultural development across the state. Speaking on behalf of the Dambatta community, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Publicity, Jamilu Danbatta, expressed deep gratitude for the Governor’s dedication to bolstering the economic priorities of the region.
