Kano Declares 24-Hour Curfew Amid Violent Protests, NCC Building Destroyed

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has declared a 24-hour curfew in the state following the Hunger protests violent in the state. The decision was today, the 1st of August after an emergency meeting of the State Security Council to address escalating violence and disruptions.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, the curfew aims to restore order, ensure public safety, and protect lives and property. The governor emphasized the need for citizens to remain vigilant and united during this challenging time.

Sunusi Tofa said, “ Tge imposition of this curfew is a necessary mess to restore order and ensure the safety of our communities, it is paramount that we protect our citizens from further harm and preserve the sanctity of our state’s institutions and businesses.”

Sunusi furthered said, “ Let’s not allow the actions of few selfish individuals to divide us, together we can navigate this challenges and fortify our resolve to build a stronger, more resilient Kano State.”

All security agencies have been directed to enforce the curfew, and citizens are urged to comply for their safety and well-being. Earlier, hoodlums looted and set fire to the newly built Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park in Kano State, making off with valuable equipment.
