Group of Physically Challenged Traders Warns against Violent Protests

The Self Reliance for Physically Challenged Traders of Nigeria has cautioned against violent protests, warning that it could lead to chaos and destabilization in the country. In a statement, the group’s Chairman, Comrade Munnir Shehu, and Secretary, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim, expressed concern over planned protests by youths against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, citing alleged hardship caused by his policies.

“We firmly believe that such actions pose a significant and imminent threat to our nation’s stability, unity, and progress, and could potentially plunge our country into chaos,” the statement read. “Let it be known that if these protests proceed, we will mobilize massively across the country to defend our rights and the integrity of Nigeria.”

The group noted that Nigeria is still recovering from the scars of the 2021 EndSARS protest and urged the government to take measures to prevent any protest that could lead to the breakdown of law and order. “We do not want to experience the turmoil and violence that occurred during the EndSARS protests, which left deep scars on our nation,” they said.

The group emphasized that constructive dialogue is the best way to solve Nigeria’s problems, not protests. “We appeal to the youth and all concerned citizens to consider the potential consequences of their actions and embrace constructive dialogue as the panacea to our problems,” they said.

The group also urged President Tinubu to fill existing ministerial vacancies promptly to enhance government efficiency. “We appeal to Mr. President to fill the existing ministerial vacancies without delay to ensure that all sectors are functioning optimally,” they said.

In conclusion, the group reiterated their commitment to peace and stability in Nigeria. “We are committed to peace and stability in Nigeria, and we will do everything possible to ensure that our country remains united and prosperous,” they said.
