Senator Alli Ndume has been stripped of his role as Senate Whip following remarks he made that were seen as critical of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Additionally, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno has been appointed to replace Alli Ndume as Senate Whip. Ndume’s removal from this position follows a report by Daily Trust indicating that senators aligned with President Tinubu were considering suspending him.

The previous week, in an interview, Ndume remarked that the president seems disconnected from developments outside the Villa, implying that he is isolated and shielded from broader societal events.

“Nigerians are getting very angry. The government is not doing anything about the food scarcity and it needs to do something urgently. We don’t have a food reserve. There is unavailability of food. Food crisis is the worst crisis that any nation can encounter. If we add that to security crisis, it will be severe,” he said
