Rivers State have been robbed of  peace as a result of the political crisis between Nyesom Wike, the current minister of the FCT and Governor Sim Fubara.

Despite the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the crisis between them is said to have worsened.

The former first lady , Dame Patience Jonathan in her reaction to the ongoing political tension requested Wike and Fubara to allow peace to reign so that the current administration can run smoothly without interference.

Patience has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state and Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to give peace a chance.

Mrs Jonathan, who was reacting to the political crisis in Rivers State, advised that it is time for governance.

She said: “We at this point plead that election has come and gone, and now is the time for governance.

“As a peace advocate, I will like to call on the warring parties in Rivers State to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance, knowing fully that no development can take place in an atmosphere of chaos.

“As a political office holder, remember that power is transient and it will end someday.

“Therefore, holding onto power after expiration of your tenure is an invitation to violence and anarchy.”
